Ultimate Voice Recorder App Reviews

Few ipod apps support proper stereo recording from stereo recording adapters and this one is definitely the best! This recorder works well for me both for simple recordings of practice sessions from a headset microphone and for serious stereo recordings using all the features of a Belkin TuneTalk recording adapter on my ipod Touch (revision 2). The transfer speed using the the built-in Bonjour capable web server is nearly twice as fast as that of any other program Ive tried, and it works reliably. In addition, the other transfer methods work well and allow dealing with nearly any kind of network setup or target machine. The developer is responsive and constantly working to improve the product. Worth every cent!

Its a great app I just cant get it to work why wont it record for me?

App works as stated. Silence Skip is the only reason I bought this app. Now I can entertain myself and others recording myself sleep talking!

OK since Im unable to use the FTP feature, I am stuck trying to send dictations through email. However, this is very problematic. I had a 5 minute dictation recorded as a wave which ended up being 28 megabytes. So I tried to email it, but the file would not show up as an attachment to the email at this size. I then figured out that files wouldnt even attach unless limited to 12 or 13 megabytes, so it had to be split 3 times. Then, when I try to send the split files the application crashes each time before it is able to upload the attachment and send, rendering them useless and stuck on the phone until I find Wi-Fi. Very FRUSTURATING

I bought this app for the features - especially silence skip, FTP upload, fast forward, and variable recording settings. While those features are great and all work well, the primary feature that I need from a recorder is a quality recording. Unfortunately, this one doesnt produce that. Even when set to the highest possible quality, its still really poor compared with the quality I get from Recorder Pro, which is FREE. Not worth $7, despite the fancy features.

The recording quality is nice...but its all the same with the other recorders as well. It would be nice to upload it to my computer directly because the FTP feature doesnt work.

Worked just fine till last update. ...Still not working as of 9/23

This WAS a great app in my 3Gs. After the last update it WILL NOT OPEN! I deleted and re-downloaded it three times with the same results. Reboot phone, no fix. $7.00 ... WASTED? Waiting for next update.

Ever since the last update It Wont Open! I paid for this so please fix it!

Upon initial purchase this app worked very well and I was a happy camper. After the update the app wont even START!! It now crashes no matter what I do. This is a very expensive RIPOFF and the developer has had ample time to fix this and has done nothing to fix this. Also thanks to you Apple for such a great product!

The "upload when done recording" feature is very nice, especially if you are using this to protect yourself in some sort of legal dispute. The issue is that if the application is backgrounded it will continue to record until reaching the recording limit, but will not upload while backgrounded. I believe Apple will allow an application to background upload, but Im not sure if the APIs will allow you to go from recording to uploading in the background. If its possible, make it happen. The "record on open" only works if you actually take the time to manually close the application via the task switcher. (i.e. double tap home, hold on the icon, click the X). If you just background it (even when not recording) it will not auto-record when the application is brought back to the foreground. Beyond that, its nice.

I Bought this app because it said you could rename files and upload via Dropbox. It actually only changes PART of the file name so I am unable to give files the exact name I want which kills the ability to preprogram my automation system to find and use the file.

And iTunes never refunded my money for an app that did not work

Just since I have upgraded my iPod Touch (4) to iOS 6.1.6, the program has developed a Fatal Flaw! The functions on the bottom line of the control panel suddenly all disappear, leaving no buttons for Play, Upload, trash, etc! I have reinstalled several times, the buttons reappear yet disappear again when I need them! This renders the program useless. Wasted my $7, now need another voice rec app that will offer VCVA (vox). HELP!

I probably own 12 different voice recording apps. This is my favorite but only by a very narrow margin. there are a few things I wish would be fixed or changed. Very busy people like myself are often trying to capture ideas very quickly with voice recorders. It hampers the speed of the workflow when you go to save your recording and fill out the name for the recording, but you must hit the backspace key several times to clear the field. When the recording name dialog box comes up it should be blank. This is a very small but very frustrating hang up. During the recording there is an edit button. It is at this level of the app where one should also be able to choose and apply a category. The way it is set up now, one must enter the existing recordings and then assign categories from there. Often I waste quite a bit of time having to listen to and then sift through recordings in order to assign them to the proper categories later. We need to be able to assign a category at the time of saving and naming the recording. When the naming dialog box comes up would be the perfect place to add the ability to choose a category. There is an excellent feature in the settings that allow the app to start recording the moment it is opened. I use this constantly and is my favorite feature. But there needs to be a discard button or a cancel button for times when you open the app and dont want to save the recording. The way it is set up now it starts to record immediately and you must stop the recording and then delete it from the recordings tap. This hampers workflow and adds extra button pushing and wastes time. The buttons at the top of the app are very unresponsive. Also there needs to be a short video linked to the app in the settings to show how to use it. I like the layout of this very clean app very much. But I could have used a little bit of guidance through a two or three minute video. If they could fix these things I would gladly give it five stars. This could easily be the best VR app but these small details really slow down the workflow. That being said it is still my favorite. It has a very clean interface that is uncluttered and just nice to work with. The workflow for adding text notes and pictures is fantastic. One more note about adding photos and text notes. The adding of Photos and text Notes occurs along a timeline during the recording. This is a feature of many apps. It is very convenient to tap on Photos or text notes that are linked to a very specific time in the audio recording. This allows the user to jump to that part of the audio recording. But something Ive noticed is that rarely do I place the photo or text note in the except spot I want it if I am adding them during a recording. I usually do not realize I must add a photo or a text note until after I hear the information Im recording. Hence, the photo or text note is usually further into the recording and doesnt quite match up where Id like it to be. This being said, it would be wonderful to be able to move or slide the bookmarks containing the photos and text notes to different areas along the recording timeline.
